How do I choose what to download?

I have no idea how to begin. Is there an introduction that explains how I might go forward with switching from windows to Linux?
Oh hey... I searched just barely and, found the answer myself. Hate to sound like a commercial plug, or do I? You folks made it almost too easy. I'm used to chasing arou... Wait. You all know where this was headed. Nice job helping me to help myself. Bye for now, but be sure, I'll be back. Peace.

You have successfully learned the First Rule of Linux: try to find it (whatever "it" is) yourself. Good work, and Congratulations!

Blooming Truth and Fading Domestic and Foreign Foes, We grow stronger, they grow weaker.

Thanks to all who make LQ such a wonderfully powerful tool for spreading the very information that will help to deliver we the people into the loving arms of an America as envisioned by those not willing to die enslaved by monsters but willing to die for freedom and justice. Now the tough job of teaching all that war is not the solution. Killing is not progressive. Not killing as a way to solve differences would be absolutely progressive. Ah well... We are on the mend. Speaking of mend, I nearly caught wind burn As two streaking (helpful) comments to a question I posted earlier blurred past me on my way to check my email... Box? Ok so, keep up the phenomenal light speed approach to re-tooling information access. Hero's ALL! Peace-Full-Progress forall.
