How do I change the shell language from German to English?

Hi,

I have a dedicated server from 1&1 which is hosted in Germany and I guess unsurprisingly is configured for German language. I am English with poor German language skills and so when I connect to the shell I'd like to be able to switch to English. Is there a way to do this? Perhaps on a per-session basis?

Take a lookhere. I am guessing you have the ability to add that to your ~/.bash_profile file so you don't have to type it each session.

(~ simply means your home directory, so when you log on, you should be able to type the name of your favorite editor followed by .bash_profile to edit the file. But be careful and make sure you don't do anything which could potentially keep you from successfully logging in again.
