How Do I Change Languages in KDE?

I love Knoppix. I think it's one of the best distros around. I also recently discovered a fun little distro called Berry Linux. Unfortunately, neither distro is natively English.

So when I boot up the live CDs of these, I can specify lang=en and it'll work.

But when I install Knoppix or Berry, the install is always in the distro's original language (German and Japanese, respectively).

Even if I go into the Control Center and change the region/accessibility to American English, change the keyboard layout to English, change just about everything I find to English, there are always random things that stay in German for Knoppix and Japanese for Berry. Like, the menus may change to English, but the labels for the desktop icons will be in Japanese, for example. I even tried rebooting, thinking that sometimes you have to restart the program to have the language change. No luck.

Does anyone know how to change the full language settings on KDE (which both Knoppix and Berry use by default) for an installation? I find it odd that specifying lang=en works for the live boot but not for the installation (yes, I've even tried putting lang=en as a boot parameter in the /boot/grub/menu.lst entry).

Any suggestions?
