how do I block access to websites

Hello,
How do I block access to various websites using a blacklist?

- I use opensuse 11.2 64 bit.
- I get a list of sites list to block from :-
http://www.shallalist.de/Downloads/shallalist.tar.gz
- The basic environment is
PC ->ADSL Modem -> ISP
Have you got some steps on how to accomplish this please.

Thanks Glenn

I believe if you set your dns to use OpenDNS's servers you can block sites. I "think" I read that on their website. There's probably a local way to do it, but I'm not familiar with it.

Hi -

I would encourage you to try "SquidGuard" (which, in turn, uses the Squid proxy server). Squid is commonly available for all major distros:

'Hope that helps .. PSM
