How Centos 6 decides what applications belong to what workspace systematically?

Today I came across the same random issue again, so I decide to post it here. It is not really a big deal so far, but I'd like to know what is going on under the hood.

Basically I keep all my "work-related" applications in workspace 1, and put some unrelated things in workspace 2, such as google news webpage. I never actively jump into the 2nd workspace when I am working. However, sometimes I see my applications from the terminal show up in the workspace 2, and got very confused. I did not even run terminal in the workspace 2. All I open is firefox with multiple tabs, and sometimes htop.

So my questions are:
1. Have you seen this ever? I hope it does not occur to me only, cause I am not ready to take the red pill, yet. I cannot really say 100% sure that I did not manually move them, but as far as I can remember, I did not (so it is 99%?). Or, maybe my mind is manipulated...
2. Could you explain to me what is going on under the hood? Like why and when Centos 6 decide to move an application to a new workspace? I assume if this occurs randomly, some dangers may arise? What I can think of is either degrading the system's performance, or even security...

Thanks in advance.

I think it happened again just now. I was at workspace 2 browsing internet randomly while waiting for some computing in workspace. It should pop out a message saying it is done. Ended up I got the message window in workspace 2, while everything else related is in workspace 1.

So I guess all workspaces are just the same? I thought it is isolated.
