How Can You See What an ICON Launches

Hi All. I have a bunch of icons on my desktop someone set up for me. I am trying to see what and from where they are launching applications. I have tried right clicking on them but it doesn't show me what the command is they are issuing. Can someone help me? Thanks all.

Bob,

What window manager/desktop environment are you using?

If KDE then click on the little gear where the start button used
to be, and select menu editor and you should reach them.
