We placed downloaded Nvidia run file on DVD and into drive and typed # urpmi --auto-update and rebooted.
Black screen came up with the other error message. We'll hopefully have it all solved.
Thank you for everyone's help.
Update: We had continuing issues with this graphics card and called Asus. They determined that the card was defective, and we returned it to the seller. We have another graphics card on the way. Hopefully, we'll do better with the Radeon.

The release date for your card was 2/25/21 and Mageia 8 was released 2/28/21 so there is no way that the most recent nvidia driver was included. Eventually, there will probably be an update that includes it but in the mean time you are probably better off following computersavvy's advice and installing the current driver manually or at least attempting to do so. Before hand, you may want to run all updates for Mageia by running the following from the command line:
The release date on the latest nvidia driver I posted about was 3/18 so it certainly should support that card. At least the card is listed in the supported card list at nvidia.

If I read what you did correctly, it did not say that you used the shell and executed the .run file.
urpmi --auto-update does not execute shell scripts, only downloads and updates file packages that are stored in the repo. Doing that with the file on a DVD in the drive will have no affect.
What you need to do is get to the recovery screen where you had the # prompt. Then make certain the DVD is mounted so you can access it. (the mount command will help here) Once it is mounted then cd (change directory) to the DVD location where you put the .run file. At this point you can issue one single command "sh filename.run" and watch it do the install for you.
When the install has completed then another reboot should properly load the nvidia driver and the system should boot normally.
