how can i UP my wireless card

i have an Ubuntu 12.04 LTS server box (Dell 2400 Dimension) i installed a d-link wireless card. some how i cannot use the wireless card to connect to the net i use the wired connection but i want to use the wireless connection too. Does someone have an idea how i can UP the wireless card and connect to the web through it.

Do you mean your "D-Link card" is now connected to the modem/router through a cable and you would create a wireless connection by using it? ...or you're now connected through another card (an ethernet card) connected to the modem/router?
