How can I transform XML into HTML on bash?

I need to transform XML into HTML on a bash shell.
I have already found programs such as "xmlto" but either I need to use DocBook XML or they are complicated to use.

I am actually looking for some simple use scripts or programs which allow me to transform an XML file (using my own DTD) into an HTML file using my own XSL stylesheet.

Any help would be appreciated.
