I use Opensuse 11 with fvwm. How can I start "Application Browser" from the command line?

I want to call Opensuse 11 Application Browser from the command line (terminal). How to do it?

If I want to know how to call every program from the terminal could you please suggest me a book to read?

But I didn't find a solution for my problem.

For example, I want to listen music under linux. Then I want to open Amarok player. I type the following commands,

from the Gnome it is very easy becuase I just click on the Amarok icon; however, under fvwm I can't find any icons at all. So my question is how can I find what command I should type under terminal? Where I can find list of all the available softwares I can use and what are their functionalities?

Than I wondering a 'Application Brower' is what I want. And how can I open it from the terminal? Thanks
