how can I set preferred apps other than web browser and email client in Ubuntu 7.04?
Hi All,
I'm a relative newbie to Linux, and I'm running Ubuntu Feisty Fawn 7.04. Please forgive me if this question has been posted before; I did some searching but was not able to find a thread related to my situation. I also hope it's in the right forum:confused: How can I set my preferred applications for file types in Gnome? When I go to System-Preferences-Preferred Applications, I can only choose to set those for web browsers, email clients and the terminal. I would like to set AbiWord as my default program for .doc files, Azureus for .torrents, Gnumeric Spreadsheet for .xls files, and Amarok for .mp3 files. Any help would be much appreciated! |
Have you checked to see if you installed the Ubuntu documentation ? Or googled for their site, the have an extensive one with lots of info. Whether theres one that explains how to set default applications and/or file associations, I don't know, but I'd be looking there first.
Good luck regards John |
Thanks, John,
I'll try the Ubuntu Forums and other documentation and then post what I learn. Regards, Aaron |
