How can I say what is latest avail package for RedHat
Hi All,
I have net-snmp-5.4.1-gpce2.0 installed on my RedHatEnt5.8 and I want to know what is the latest version available for my RedHat beside that version if I want to upgrade my net-snmp. How can I say what version of net-snmp is the latest and where can I download it? Thanks in advance |
The authoritative source for information about Red Hat is: http://www.redhat.com/support/
You are paying a lot for your subscription so why not take advantage of the benefits? |
And : net-snmp-5.4.1-gpce2.0 doesn't look like an RHEL5 package.
A Cisco package ? Latest is : net-snmp-5.3.2.2-17.el5_8.1 ftp://ftp.redhat.com/redhat/linux/en...r/en/os/SRPMS/ ( Not binary packages, but source code SRC.RPMS.) . |
Yes. It's Cisco version
How 5.3.2.2 can be newer than 5.4.1? What if I go to http://www.net-snmp.org and download the latest? Will it work for EL5?

Some general reading material about how Red Hat numbers their packages:
https://access.redhat.com/security/updates/backporting/ Generally speaking, the "path of least resistance" is to use the stable and supported package versions provided with your Red Hat subscription. If you have a specific reason for needing a different version of net-snmp from outside the network, you haven't communicated it to us... |
