how can i make a custom linux

if i just want an linux without an xfree and other gui only want the command line interface and i don't want to use any other distros. how can i built an linux like far as i know i need an complie kernel and the boot load. and what else things do i need???how can i put those things together??? to make this linux run.

you would probably need the kernel files and boot loader but you may be better of hacking windows and making a new thing for them becasue windows is shit...just my own opinion but......
