How Can I "log in" as root in Ubuntu 9.10??

Hello Everybody,

I have Ubuntu 9.10 installed on my laptop.
When I turn on my computer, in "log in" menu
there is only one user "pc" which I defined
during installation.

I can easily log in as "pc" But for logging
in as root I click on "Others" in "log in" menu
and then enter "root" as user and then the
password. But It does not log in and gives
authentication error.

How can I log in as root from "log in" menu in Ubuntu 9.10.

With best regards,
Hassan
