How can I install ubuntu 7.10 without booting from the live cd?
Hello everyone,
I want to install Ubuntu 7.10. When I boot my computer from CD ROM it takes much time and even after an hour it cannot boot from the live CD to load Ubuntu live and install it. I want to install it without booting from the live CD. Is there any command by which I can run the install directly without booting from the live CD? In the menu of it, there is no option for doing it. Can anyone help me please. I think my CD ROM is weak. Thanks, Zabeeh khan |
hi just wanted to check that the version you have supports the cpu architecture that your computer is eg. i386 or amd64. if it is teh right one then if your pc supports usb booting then mount the image and copy to Ur flash drive and change your bios boot setting and boot

If you don't have enough RAM, I think that a Live CD may not work well.
You can get an "install only" CD for Ubuntu. |
Yeah, use the alternate disc instead. You'll be greeted by an ncurses installer, but it's easy to figure out and usually works where the Live CD fails.
