How can I hide my identity while connected with ssh server

Hi all,

I am using Putty ssh client to connect with my school's
server. Sometimes I see someone is connected with
the server at the same time but I cant see them.

I do 'ps' and can see my shell pts/5 so it means that
atleaste 4 other ppl are also connected, but when
I put the command 'who', I dont see anybody.

Can anybody please help me how can I see them and
also how can I hide myself too :-)

thanks in advance

you don't see anybody including yourself? or just you don't see anybody else?

More likely than not, this is a reflection of the actions of your sysadmins on your (and the other students') behalf (for example by removing some read permissions from the utmp file).

You can't hide from your sysadmins. You also can't hide yourself from other users. Your sysadmins probably hide everybody from each other to protect everybody's privacy.
