How can I get the names of my Contacts back on Windows Live Messenger!

I bought a new laptop, Acer Aspire 6920, which runs Vista, and after I installed Windows Live Messenger, i could not see any of my contacts. It says that "We could not find any contacs that matched your filter". I'm not sure, if i pressed a wrong button with my enthusiasm when downloading. Also, i'm not sure i've set up my laptop correctly, should I post a separate thread for this??
From a very angry and frustrated new laptop owner, thanks in anticipation!!!

This error usualy happens when there are some characters type in the search/filter text box. Check properly and make sure its cleared. Another way of verifying it is by logging in from a different pc, or one of those web based messengers i.e: www.meebo.com

ya don't worry, I wouldn't think they deleted your contacts

happens quite often, just delete the letters you wrote in the search/filter and it should be fine.
