How can I diagnose why my ctrl+z shortcut is not working?
Hi everyone,
I can not for the life of me find why something as simple like creating a shortcut is not working. I'm using Manjaro with KDE Plasma as a DE, I've configured it completely for my linking and im just noticing this is not working, the undo (ctrl+z) is not working in libre office, google docs or any other app. I've checked my settings shortcuts and under common actions 'Undo' is correctly mapped to ctrl+z but in my kglobalshortcutsrc I cant find it. I've rebooted several times, rollback to default my shortcuts, check that my keyboard is correctly mapped and is actually sending a ctrl+z. I don't know if I have an app that is overwriting my settings or what, but I don't know how to troubleshoot how my shortcuts are captured and executed. Could someone guide me a little bit? Thanks, Regards. |

Read those pages, I reset the shortcut. Still no luck, I also tried to set other listed shortcut schemas in system->shortcut settings. I checked with 'xev' if the key events where correct, and they are. So its an issue with KDE, I believe its related to having an 'Undo' shortcut when is really not necessary given that most apps take ctrl+z as their own undo shortcut, but I cant find how to remove this KDE Common Actions shortcut.

I hope you can find a way to remove it. |

I tested with it assigned in Plasma (as it is by default) and ctrl+z still works in Libre Office and terminal. I don't think plasma's defaults block anything.

Ok, progress. I was able to find where the Undo shortcut is stored in file, is under .config/khotkeysrc in that file I found "Undo[$d]" no idea what the $d means in this file or even what syntax this file needs to follow. While tinkering in that file I created a custom shortcut to test the syntax and set the trigger to 'Ctrl+z' it prompts me if I want to reassing it form Edit->Undo I put yes, then I go back to Edit->Undo and re set Ctrl+z there. And magically for some reason it works. For some reason I need to set it to a custom shortcut then re set it, it only works with custom shortcuts. The "fix" only works until I logout or restart though, but its some progress.
Also while trying to fix this I noticed the shortcut for me x11 widget stopped activating by pressing Meta, that was a quick fix though, as I just added it manually under kglobalshortcutsrc. I'll keep checking what is happening with ctrl+z. |
