[SOLVED] how can I combine clips to form single video file with mencoder or ffmpeg

I am using openSUSE 10.3.I want to know how can I combine video clips to form single video file using ffmpeg or mencoder.
NOTE that all clips have same characteristic i.e aspect ratio,video & audio codec,fps,dimension etc.

mencoder -ovc copy -oac copy -o <output filename>.avi <input file1>.avi <input file2>.avi etc.

mencoder suggestion works well.
But I was wondering Can ffmpeg combine clips with same characteristics or is it only for transcoding ?

looks like ffmpeg cannot be used to combine clips taken from same video.It would have been great to do all actions with powerful ffmpeg.Does Anyone know way of combining clip in ffmpeg ?
