how can I change screen resolution in the console

I havn't istalled a graphic user interface like KDE
the only future i have installed on my debian 3.0 is hardware reconnaissance

my question is how to change screen resolution in the console to 1024*768 or how to change type size

You have to enable framebuffer support in your kernel and pass and argument vga=somenumber to it. Don't know the numbers exactly but if you search google you'll be able to find them.
