Hosting? Who and what do you use?

I understand the basics of DNS i just have what i hope to be a quick and painless question.

I have a domain through godaddy. Such as www.mydomain.com. I have my webserver set up. I want to start hosting other companies/peoples webpages for them. I understand that my isp (Comcast) blocks smtp. Obviously i would want my customers to have email at there domain. ex. www.mycustomer1.com

I have done some research and found out that my ISP (Comcast) won't let me host commercial websites also that they block port 25 for smtp. So long story short I'm now looking at hosting companies.

I'm thinking of one of these three

1. Godaddy- either their 4GH hosting plan https://www.godaddy.com/hosting/web-...g.aspx?ci=9009 or possibly the VDS service https://www.godaddy.com/hosting/virt....aspx?ci=22125

2. Linode- https://www.linode.com/

3. burst.net - http://burst.net/linvps.shtml

I've been happy with GoDaddy. If you go to GeekNewsCentral, you can find some discount codes. http://www.geeknewscentral.com/godaddy-promo-codes/ (Edit: The two or three times I've had to call their tech support with how-to questions about using their interface, they have been excellent.)

InmotionHosting is an excellent company that provides fantastic service, but they are more expensive and are oriented more towards the business market.

I have a friend who swears by A Small Orange. I am now managing the site he created (it's for an organization) and can take no exception to their service.

I've also heard good things about HostGator, but have no direct experience.

I only use GoDaddy for Domain Registration and I do all my own hosting, since I am in "The Business."
Linode is up there.

Who not to use, Oh boy. Erm, How much time have ya got? :(
Seriously, A Small Orange (ASO) or Linode.

DigitalOcean has great documentation...

There are always many sides to the same coin.

Choosing the right provider for your web hosting is an important business decision. a lot of companies are now available providing the similar services at affordable rates. we should choose the best available option after analysing the requirements. [removed]

I too am in the business. I have a server in a local data center. I like that they are local and it's worked well for me for several (21!) years.

Search for "dedicated server hosting" to identify many companies who will provide a server for a monthly fee, including many of those already mentioned.

I use Hostgator to host a club website, I also use it for most of my email needs.
I have not had any problems with it.

If you intend to host more than one domain, I really advise you to consider a reseller account. They're relatively inexpensive but man, you can have a ball with all those accounts you suddenly can create at will. And you can do some white label hosting yourself for some clients.

I got a reseller account and I will never ever go back.
