Host upgraded our server, now only 1 user can ftp-connect

Our host upgraded our server (to a newer and 64-bit CENTOS). Since, only 1 user can ftp-connect (and anonymous, which can't do anything). When we try, it tells us the user is OK but refuses every password. /var/log/messages records 'Authentication failed for user [RandomTroll]' It's pure-ftpd. I've configured this for years and tried everything I can think of to make this work, but have failed. We can sftp connect, but we have some old equipment that's ftp only.

I assume I've missed something simple, which is why I ask in Newbie.

Hi RandomTroll.

You've marked this thread as "solved". Can I ask what you did to resolve the problem?
