Host name


I want to change my hostname. How do I go about doing that. I did it before but forgot how to do it agin. any help would be appreciated.

Didn't read link above but this is a must. Change the rc.sysinit file on about line 30. It's in /etc directory. Should read

HOSTNAME=xxxxxxx

Where xxxxxx is what you want it named.

To make sure it is working look when it first starts to boot init it should say setting hostname to xxxxxxxx. If you see that, you are good to go. It should take care of the rest. I have also read that if it is not set correctly that you will have problems with x crashing and such. Don't know why, that's what I have read.

You should have seen me googleing and useing the find thing trying to find that. If I wasn't already crazy, I'd think it drove me crazy. Can't go when you are already there.
