Welcome to LQ!!!

Putting the title as Urgent will not help you to any assistance or help quickly. We are a community not a support. I would suggest you to have a look at LQ rules here

Coming to your query:

Which character is used to match excatly one character?

It appears like a homework or question from some exam. You could have easily find out the answer to your question by doing a simple search on the web. We really appreciate when a member has done his homework and then post a query.

Anyways, answer to your queries is as follows:

a. restore :- check out the manpage of restore and you will get the idea. To be honest I wouldn't consider it as full fledge disaster recovery it is more of what the name suggest restore.

b. * : you might want to have a look at wildcards: http://tldp.org/LDP/GNU-Linux-Tools-...tml/x11655.htm and http://www.linfo.org/wildcard.html

The answer to b is d. The question mark is used to match single characters.

BTW, I know this is homework, but how exactly can two questions this simple (and the first one this easy to look up) be urgent?
