Home folder icon does not open home folder
So i am running RHEL3 and somehow i managed to scramble it so that when i click on my home folder and trash icons on the desktop they do not open up a view of the files they instead try to open a diffrent application

Is this a simple fix...

Can you tell what application they try to open?

Have you had another version of Linux on this machine recently? I'm curious about that because if you have then we might be just looking at a (hopefully) simply /home mapping being wrong.

OK, I might be oversimplifying this, but its just a shortcut. On Ubuntu, all I simply did was delete the Desktop Icon, then go to your System Menu(KDE) or Places Menu (Gnome), and simply drag your home folder to your desktop from the Menu.... Presto, New Link.. I couldn't get this to work with the Trashcan, but in Gnome, I simply went to the my /home/indygunfreak/.trash folder, right clicked it, chose create launcher, and moved the launcher to my desktop. You can then browse your icons and put an appropriate icon.

Now if you're not getting to it when you click on the menu items, obviously this is a waste of time.

After some digging it appears that somehow that file type is associated with bluefish as of this momment. I am running gnome and will try to recreate the icons when i get back to work. I have very little experience with the gnome window manager and use kde as my manager of choice. However the choice was not there for kde :(
