hlds for linux in win98 network
I am running linux red hat linux 7.2 and installing hlds for linux. The hlds instalation is work fine.
The question I want to pose are :
1. Is it possible running hlds for linux for win98 client..?
2. If possible how to configue it..?
3. Should I install SAMBA for this..?
4. If I should..How would I install the SAMBA in red hat linux 7.2..?
*. Right now I am running windows networking
I hope you can understand my wordshere. Any respond would be appreciated.

this is nothign to do with samba. you should be able to run the server, and point your clients to the IP of the server and go.

Thank you very much indeed for your respond. your respond was very helpfull. But I have to PlayOnline and put the IP server (in counter strike). Is there anyway to pointing the IP server in counter strike..?

dude,
i suggest that you take a look at this site:
http://server.counter-strike.net/help/
also, check out the FAQ in the linuxreadme file once u have extracted the hdls files. I've managed to setup my cs server using the answers in that FAQ.

yup...firstable thank you for the respond.
but your link containing the installation had already read by me. and by the way I am not asking for the step by step installing but how my client (98) can parsing the linux server..do you have a better idea.?

so ur problem right now is how ur win98 client with CS 1.5 can connect to ur Linux CS 1.5 server? in my LAN (using class C IPs - 192.168.25.X), i had no problems with that. here is the command i used to start it:
hlds_run -debug -game cstrike -nomaster +sv_lan 1 +maxplayers 20 +map de_dust

no... I ask my friend, he told me to change the permission of these files : hlds_run, start_cs.sh, config.txt. And it's worked fine
Now I can see in my LAN game.
