hindi in vim

1 Attachment(s)
Hi ,
I use debian 6.0.0.
I have installed
scim scim-m17n scim-gtk2-immodule m17n-db im-switch

I can write hindi fine in browsers & gedit using transliteration.
In vim I see that matra & letter are not positioned correctly.
Like in कु the matra उ appears before क . Here is screenshot Attachment 7155
I am using 'Akshar Unicode' . 'Monospace' does not help either.
Do you get this problem ? Otherwise , what font you use ?
Thank you.

Aquarius_Girl 05-30-2011 02:26 AM

Have you tried some fonts from www.devanagarifonts.net?

sumeet inani 05-30-2011 05:52 AM

I tried "Devanagari Plain9190 122439 PM" , 'lohit hindi' but invain.
Can you suggest me a hindi font that works on your vim ?

Aquarius_Girl 05-30-2011 05:58 AM

I haven't tried Hindi in Vim. Devanagari.net has got plenty of fonts, and you tried just two?

sumeet inani 05-30-2011 06:37 AM

I tried to compile mlterm with '--enable-fribidi --enable-ind --enable-m17nlib --enable-scim'
Quote:

from http://eyegene.ophthy.med.umich.edu/unicode/#mlterm
Mlterm is arguably the best terminal emulator for multilingual work and is certainly my favorite (Fig. 1). When compiled with fribidi and libind, mlterm supports complex Indic scripts like Devanagari, Indic-derived scripts like Thai, and right-to-left scripts like Arabic and Hebrew
I got warning
