highly-strung Firefox

Ff incessently vanishes when I visit certain sites such as The Guardian newspaper or YouTube. Can I discount the possibility that my isp Plusnet.com, is screwing me over?

thanks

Which version of FF??

Once in a while my FF vanishes too, but I hadn't complained because it's a home-made build of 3.6.

A tip: use the session manager with crash-protection, and you're right back in business where you left off, in a matter of seconds :)

I doubt it's your ISP. Highly doubt it. They cannot make your FF vanish :)

Yep, sounds like it's simply crashing. Very often this is due to the flashplayer plugin, which seems to make FF much more unstable. I suggest you try disabling or uninstalling it temporarily and see if it doesn't help you out.

If it does turn out to be the problem, you can use noscript to block the flash objects from loading by default. This may help you to survive longer.

It's possible some other add-on you have installed could be to blame instead, but flash is the most likely culprit.

It's not your ISP.

Try running Firefox in safemode.

Code:

$ firefox -safe-mode
If Firefox doesn't crash when running in safemode then it's probably a plugin or extension that's causing you problems. You can then try disabling plugins and extensions one by one to work out which is the problem.
