Hiding grub's existence; make laptop look like a windows machine.

I want my laptop to look like a generic windows machine even though grub is installed.

When my laptop is powered on, I do not want the screen to show that grub is installed and just waiting for some magic keypress to see a menu or boot linux. Otherwise it would try to boot windows (and fail).

lilo had this, but I'd rather keep grub.

What does not work:

1. 'hiddenmenu' That tells the world to please press esc to see the menu. What's the point?

2. 'password' Again, the viewer can see that grub is installed and waiting to do something.

3. making the colors white on white. Unfortunately some parts of the screen use fixed colors.

The only solution I can see is to use a flash drive to boot linux.

Thanks.

You could always try using something like splashy and look for a Windows boot splash.
