under tools
on mouse over " default user agent " and put a check in the checkbox
IE7 and vista is the very first one

vista and win 7 will work
IE 7 and 8 will work

you can even set up a custom "user agent" that will tell servers that you are a google bot and not a real person if you so choose

1. Have you installed amsn? That should deal with your 1st problem (logging into MSN).
2. You should find your user agent controls in the Firefox "Tools" menu locate long the top of the Firefox window (left of Help; right of Bookmarks). In Tools you find the menu item "Default user agent" and that's where you can set the user agent to what you want.
Out of curiosity (I know nothing about Hotmail), doesn't hotmail support pop3 clients? If yes, wouldn't it be sooooooooo much simpler to do it all with Thunderbird or some other client of your choice.
ciao,

ok...I have found the "default user agent" in the tools list on ff.
When I put the mouse arrow on it, the first thing on the list being default user agent, I have checked and still it didn't work. So I tried putting the check in the box for IE7 and then IE8 under the internet explorer tab and still its made no difference.
Do you know why this would be?
Should I have the check in a different box?
Also I have downloaded some sort of amsn thing JDK but still msn isn't working lol. Is there only one sort of amsn that I can download or could I have downloaded the wrong one?

I can see what you both are saying to do and have done both things, however it still isn't working. Sorry
Thank you both for being so patient and I am trying.

I have no idea. I don't use microsoft stuff. Never have, never will. Why not just move your email account to something like google or anything else. It seems microsoft stuff is very very complicated.

Until you inform us exactly what you did: what you downloaded, how you downloaded it and then what command you gave to start it, no one can really help you. If you downloaded the amsn package then it should appear in the menu under Internet and you just click on it and fill in your hotmail details.

You're quite welcome but please try to be more generous with your information. The more details you give, the easier it is for others to help you.
