Hi from newbie with windows and egineering background

I need to get up to speed on Linux for embedded micros for control applications. I have been mostly using windows as a development platform and am looking for information on what Linux has available for embedded systems

Howdy and welcome to LQ. :)

Linux might have more support than any other os. What exactly do you need?

This looks promising. Jump to about page 36. http://free-electrons.com/doc/traini...nux-slides.pdf

Hi steve_n and welcome to LQ.

The Linux - Embedded & Single Board Computer forum is probably one you'll enjoy.

Also recommend you experiment with some of the various Linux based System On Modules (SOM), Beagle, Hummingboard, Rasberry Pi, are a few. The Pi is probably the most prolific and there are tons of projects out there for various technical projects involving things like GPIO, I2C, SPI, plus you can also attach displays, write your own custom bootloader and kernel (not that you can't on any computer).

Enjoy!

Thanks for the response.
I plan to use the legato linux for a control application. The first need is to get a simple router that allows message forwarding. I am still in the process of searching for what may be available; not ready yet to post questions.
