Hey i am new to Linux student any suggestions for distros? any tips are appreciated.

Common answers for newcomers is Linux Mint or Ubuntu.

Hi there, I too am a new Linux Student (Sr.)

Do you have a sandbox? Like vmware or virtualbox?

I like Ubuntu, and if you ever feel like mixing it up OpenSUSE is a good OS (imo), the commands are a bit different but the desktop is nice.

Kali is great for pen-testing if you're going the security route.

Ya cant go wrong with starting with Ubuntu
