help - yum update


i was trying the "yum update" as i was trying to install the kernel-source
below are the outputs :

# yum update
Setting up Update Process
Setting up repositories

base 100% |=========================| 1.1 kB 00:00

i've tried the "yum update" so many times and i got the same result, what's wrong??

The problem is that the Fedora Extras repository is very busy, or down for maintenance. You can tell this from the message:

Error: failure: repodata/primary.xml.gz from extras: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try.


You can try using a mirror, instead of going against the primary repository.

go there, use their yum.conf (i do) looks like you're not connectiing to the redhat mirrors for YUM, maybe they have changed/down/overloaded

You can uncomment (remove the #'s) some other very useful repos from it like freshrpms
