Help with Zorin lite

Just installed Zorin-lite-edu distro on a student computer. It works well with the old hardware. I wanted to set the wallpaper to be similar to the Kubuntu student computers that I've deployed, but I can't figure out how to make it do a slideshow of downloaded backgrounds like kubuntu does.

I installed Shotwell and moved the images to that program and set it to "Set as Desktop Slideshow" and it exported and said it was generating the backgrounds, but nothing ever changed. I rebooted and still the same default background is there.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

This is possibly because shotwell is not included in the start-up scripts. Maybe include a function in .bashric to include a shotwell slideshow? Big 'maybe'. Why do it anyway? 'Lite' systems are a big stretch from KDE.
You could run a slideshow of backgrounds from impress or get the students to price up a windoze pc with all the functionality of a GNU/Linux machine.

...what fred caro meant, zorin lite is supposedly a lightweight system, as in not using too many resources?
because KDE is the sheer opposite of that.

anyhow, using shotwell for this is not such a good solution.

chances are, there's already some other (more lightweight) program in zorin's repositories (ubuntu based iirc?) that does exactly what you want (desktop background changer/slideshow).

choosing the right program here is highly dependent on the desktop environment you use, and unfortunately i could not find any information on that on zorin's website (for the lite edu free version).

edit: it says gnome/lxde on distrowatch. supposing it uses lxde, here's a quick search result:
