help with WINE...., not finding fake windows directories...

I am a newbie to linux.., although I am very experianced in windows, I just installed SuSE 9.1 ontop of WinXP..., dualboot,.., and havent too many problems other then the fact that I had to buy an external modem

I am having problems with WINE..., it seems that I cannot run any exe's that have dependencies that don't come with WINE (and are in .so form in /usr/lib/wine)

I get these lines whenever I launch any programs...-
Warning: the specified Windows directory L"C:\\Windows" is not accessible.
Warning: the specified System directory L"C:\\Windows\\System" is not accessible

which I am almost certain means that any dependencies that I put into C:\Windows\system are not going to be found...

also, what is with the double slashes?

Thanx in advanced,
Byan

have you tried running "winecfg"? that may do the trick - I had the same errors, but (I think!) resolved them by playing with the values in ~/.wine/config

here's the beginning of mine (running slack10, no m$ install):

Quote:
[Drive A]
"Path" = "/mnt/floppy"
"Type" = "floppy"
"Label" = "Floppy"
"Device" = "/dev/fd0"

[Drive C]
"Path" = "/home/genesee/.wine/drive_c"
"Type" = "hd"
"Label" = "drive_c"
"Filesystem" = "win98"

[Drive D]
"Path" = "/mnt/cdrom"
"Type" = "cdrom"
"Label" = "/mnt/cdrom"

[wine]
"Windows" = "c:\\windows"
"System" = "c:\\windows\\system"
"Temp" = "e:\\"
"Path" = "c:\\windows;c:\\windows\\system;e:\\;e:\\test;f:\\"
"Profile" = "c:\\windows\\Profiles\\Administrator"
"GraphicsDriver" = "x11drv"
;"ShowDirSymlinks" = "1"
;"ShowDotFiles" = "1"
"ShellLinker" = "wineshelllink"

Try deleting ~/.wine and then installing Wine from the sources.
