Help with my external NTFS - Ubuntu froze when copying files and corrupted it
Hi everyone,
So I was copying files to my NTFS external drive and Ubuntu froze while copying them, and in turn, corrupted my external drive. I ran Ntfsfix and it fixed it, but I was also told to run chkdsk on a windows computer to fix it. I saw a few things that it fixed - something about orphaned files that were left over, and its been looking through all 40,000 files on it since. Is there any way I can be sure that I can recover my files from Ubuntu's corruption? I'm currently using my Windows Vista computer that was lying around to do chkdsk and its taking quite a long time. |
Personally, assuming your files are still intact on your Ubuntu machine, I would reformat your external drive and try it again.
