help with mounting a dos partition!


i have a dual os with redhat 8.0 and windows xp............

in redhat i use the kmd gui

how would i go about mounting my dos drive to access pics and music??

It should be mounted already, look in /mnt/win_c ( "cd /mnt/win_c" in a text console, after that "ls -a" )
Should it not be mounted after all : "mount /dev/hdaX" where the X is the number of your win partition ( probably 1 )

add thid to your etc fstab

/dev/hdax /mnt/windows defaults defaults 0 0

and be sure to create /mnt/windows

What filesystem do you have XP installed to?

Windows XP is installed to a NTSF file sys i tried to download support but the rpm file for ntsf support didnt do anything

i still get a message that says the ntsf filesystem isnt supported

Did you follow the instructions on the linux-ntfs redhat page?

ntfs support is experimental anyway they do not recommed writing data with it.
