Help with Modem Lights

I have Modem Lights on the panel (RH9) but it does not show any evidence of modem activity when I am online. The properties show:

Modem Lock File: /var/lock/LCK..modem
Device: PPP0

Connect Command: /sbin/ifup ppp0
Disconnect Command: /sbin/ifdown ppp0

I'm using Modem Lights to dial up, so is it not set for the right device? I want flashing lights!:mad:
