Post help with linux


hi, i need help with this i would like to know if you can put linux on a system that already has winxp installed, and if you can how do you do that thank you

yes, you can do this.

1, Using the safe way, find partition magic and do partittion for your new linux
2. Insert your linux cd, make sure you boot from cd
3. Follow the guide step by step.

This is what i do two years ago, and work like a charm

You sure can.

To do it may be a bit of work if you don't want to lose
you windows XP set up though.

You will have to do something called "re-partitioning"
your harddrive.

To install linux download and burn a cd image
you can get one from www.linuxiso.org
put it in your cdrom drive and it should boot
follow the on-screen instructions from there.

I reccomend redhat or mandrake for a beginner.

hey logicgb . how do i do that if i cant get to my cd burner thing , i messed up that part of my puter pitting in upgrade frwinxp instead of full version cant get it back

yes,the win xp has diskpart instead of fdisk like win 98 is that a problem

I've never used diskpart,
but if it allows you to resize partitions
and/or make partitions then yes you
can.

i have to figure out where it is first, or i may hook up my other computer it works in the win98 or it did before,thanks for the help btw
