help with kde
I don't know what happened but I suddenly can't start my kde session.... Last thing I did was mess around with my ppp connection that's why I'm baffled that kde won't start now
This is what happens...
splash screen shows up.... takes a long while in the part where it says initializing system services... then nothing happens.... the splash screen disappears without the other stages (loading session etc) being run.... then just a blank grey screen....
I want my kde back so please help

Can you switch to a virtual console (Ctrl+Alt+F1)? If so, does it display any error messages?
What kernel, distro, and X version are we looking at?
Are you able to load other WM's (Gnome, Floxbox, Enlightenment, etc...)?

Ok - cd to /etc/X11
there should be a file called XFree86.0.log or Xorg.0.log - it's for XF86 and Xorg respectively.
type this:
Code:
cat FILENAME | grep EE
replacing FILENAME with the respective logfile (XFree86.0.log or Xorg.0.log) and post the output
