Question help with ipchains?

hi,
i'm running mandrake 8.2 and would like to know how to configure
ipchains. I was reading how to's for ipchains but they didn't have a
configuration for kernel 2.4. They only have a set ups for 2.0 - 2.2 .
So if anyone knows how to configure it or have any advice please hit respond
thank you.

ipchains were developed for kernels 2.2 with backward compatibility to fwadmin and patch released for 2.0 kernels, which worked with earlier versions of kernel <2.2 . Now for 2.4 we have iptables, and 2.4 version backward compatible with ipchains and fwadmin, so if you go with ipchains the scripts that are written for 2.2 work without a change on 2.4 as long as the kernel is compiled with ipchains in mind.

Correction to my previous post - it is ipfwadm, not fwadmin.
