First how are we trying to connect, DSL, network, with modem, router?

OK, let's see. You have an intel chipset but more likely than not you need a driver from another manufacturer. Run lspci and find out who is the manufacturer of the lan controller.

um....where do i run it...in windows or kubunutu terminal?

I wouldn't think you will need any drivers for your ethernet controller. Here's an easy setup guide to get you started. http://www.kubuntu.org/docs/kquickguide/C/ch02s06.html

Weird, I have the very same one, REALTEK 8111/8168. It has been supported on all distributions that I have tried for the last half year or so. Then again, I've never been a KDE fan so I never tried Kubuntu. It works fine with a recent Ubuntu, though. And with Fedora, Debian, Suse, Sabayon, CentOS, Mepis, Mandriva, BSD, Solaris ...

If you really can't get it working, consider switching to a different distro or installing the driver yourself. Visit REALTEK and download the proper driver (REALTEK 8111) and make sure to get the latest one available (the earlier versions were rather buggy). The zipped file should contain instructions on installing.

can someone give me a link for the Realtek driver for the REALTEK 8111 network card...newest please..im having trouble finding it

It should, I have the same NIC and it worked for me back in the days when this NIC wasn't supported by any distro yet.

Bear in mind that installing the driver alone won't give you any network. After installing you still need to configure a few things (System > Admin > Network on a Gnome system).

um...im having a little trouble installing it
