Help With Installing Apps

I am running suse 8.2.

I have downloaded software such as guard dog firwall. i read the install file and it says..type ./configure and once it is done type make, here is where nothing happens?make does nothing says no target specified?

and also some of these apps give erros cant find QT?

Im very new to linux..thanx to anyone that helps

sounds like you need to install the development packages for your distro.
