Still need Help with Helix
Hi, i am pretty new to this kind of stuff and thought i would have a go....
i have eventually installed the latest version of Helix (forensics distro) on a partition known as hda7 and the swap partition is hda8. It has succefully installed and it installed lilo to the master boot record. now i have a copy of acronis os selector which starts up and shows me my winxp os and helix. I choose helix and then a command promt screen appears with grub) i type in root (hd0,6) thats works fine but then kernel /vmlinuz root=/dev/hda7 comes up with error 15 file not found can n e 1 help? i know grub is working fine cause i can load windows though it:( |

Is this something you are typing in or output from OS Selector? |
I think you /boot/grub/grub.conf file may be pointing to the wrong place and cannot find your kernel. The kernel is in /boot directory. would need to see grub file to confirm. Also you have only 1 linux partition and a swap partition?

Help with Helix
I have got rid of the os slector program so now i have grub startin up everytime i power up the pc.
using rootnoverify command and so on i can boot up windows. using ltools to look at the partition... /boot/grub/grub.conf does not exist, their is no such file however i have a /dev/hda7/etc/lilo.conf it loos like this: # /etc/lilo.conf - See: 'lilo(8)' and 'lilo.conf(5)', # --------------- 'install-mbr(8)', '/usr/share/doc/lilo/', # and '/usr/share/doc/mbr/'. # +---------------------------------------------------------------+ # | !!
