Help with dual-boot

I decided to install RH 8.0 on my machine. It has 2 HDs. I installed Linux on the second HD. The first HD has Win98SE. I let the install program install GRUB into the MBR of the first HD. It would boot into Linux just fine, but not Windows. Since I am new to Linux, I came to this site for help. I tried to fix the bootloader with no success, so I decided to just uninstall Linux and start over. The Red Hat site said to rebuild the MBR using "fdisk /MBR", then to boot the install disk and go into the "expert" mode, and delete the Linux partitions, and reboot. I did that, but when my machine boots up, it only tries to boot the floppy drive. If I boot to a Windows boot disk and run fdisk, it says that my primary HD is a non-Windows drive. Does anyone know how to fix this without reinstalling Windows. Any help would be appreciated.

Can you recall the error message? It's obviously too late now, but maybe an error message might give a clue about changing something on the next install.

If I boot to a Windows boot disk and run fdisk, it says that my primary HD is a non-Windows drive.
If there were no errors with the "fdisk /mbr" input, then it almost seems as though Grub was installed to the boot sector of the primary hard drive and not the MBR. Do you recall positively that Grub went to /dev/hda and not /dev/hda1?

Not trying to give you a hard time, just hoping there's something that you can do next time to avoid the problem !!

I don't remember an error message, but when I would select Windows in the bootloader window, it would all that would happen is the floppy drive would try to read something that was not there.

I don't recall positively that GRUB went to /dev/hda.

I appreciate the help.
