Help with CVSWeb and protected directories required.

Clearly i'm new to linux since I've posted here

The situation:

I've got a cvs repository protected with permissions to only allow the owner and users of a particular group access to view it and everything within it.

This stops CVSWeb from being able to list the repository as it cannot access the directory, the error "Error: /: Permission is denied" is shown in the browser.

If I allow the cvs repositories to be readable by world then everything works fine, so there isn't a problem with the cgi script not executing.

The question:

How to allow CVSWeb to show the protected folders? I'm running Red Hat el3, and Apache. I think its got something to do with the user and group that apache runs with maybe?

Thanks for any help, pointers or advice.

I've fixed it myself. In case of futures searches i've replied.

Basically i discovered that the cgi scripts were running as apache user, so i changed the user and group that the apache server runs under to the admin user who maintains the directories. simple when you know how
