Help with bash script...

Hey Guys,

I just need a lil help with some logic for a bash script that I am working on...

What I would like is for someone to post the logic I need for the following situation: I need the script to check to see if a directory is empty or not. If the directory is empty I want the script to exit, if not, I want it to continue further operations.

I know how to get it to work if I was looking for a certain/static file name but the directory will always have a different file name(s).

Well, you'll probably need to pass the name of your directory as a variable then?
Something like this?

if [ -d $1 -a -z "$(ls $1)" ]; then echo "empty"
else echo "nope"
Call this script something like, make it executable and call it with the directory name, like this

./ testdir
