Help w/ Fedora Core v.2
I'm looking for help with a fresh install Fedora 2 on my PIII 700Mhz, 512MB RAM, 40Gb HD.
FDISK c:\ = 1024Mb | d:\ = 30 +GB My idea was to use Linux tools like "anaconda" to create partitions for /boot /root /usr/local /home /var and whatever else. Here's what happens when I toss the media into the CDROM and boot: The Fedora 2 Intro screen appears. I choose "graphical installation". Next, the screen displays "Uncompressing Linux . . . Ok, booting the kenel. And, that's it. What do I do next? Anyone run into this before? Any ideas/help to get me going would be APPRECIATED! Thanks for helping this "wannabe" learn. |
this sometimes happens when the temporary x server cant run.....this happens with some legacy machines. what u can do is to install rh9 and then later update x server, kernel and stuff for the best linux installation on ur box or choose text installation.......but again i am not sure that the x server will start even after installation.....so watchout......best thing is to install rh9 and update kernel, x and kde or gnome(which ever u like)...........takes a lot of time but a great learning experience ........
have fun! |
