Samba Authentication

Hi
I have set up a domain controller by using samba. I have another machine on the network that shares hosts files, so a file server, using samba on the file server i want to share the files. however, i need samba to authorise users access to files depending on what username is logged into the domain. i figured you need to go somewhere (the domain controller) to get user names and passwords, so i set it to have read/write access to the folder and have tried the security setting as user, domain, server etc, and having the password server set to being the domain controller. but when i access a folder, it tells me access is denied (the folder i want to share is mapped on my computer of the windows client by using a netlogon.bat file on the domain controller)

what do i do? how can i get this working the way i want to, i have been stuck on this for ages now and ive looked everywhere about file permissions, i think i finally understand how they work - kind of, but i have set permissions in unix to allow my username rwx and set the group as well but nothing seems to work unless i set security on samba on the file server to share, whereby anyone can have access to the folders and when someone creates a folder - its created by "nobody"

thanks,

Steve
