What happens when you configure the video device in skype and cheese? Please explain the steps you have taken.

Thanks for the quick reply!
Both report "No webcam preset" when running Cheese (pull-down menu) and when checking Skype: options->video device. I get that dmesg associates the device with OmniVision and seems to recognize the WebCam Pro by name. beyond that I'm clueless. I have no reason to suspect the device but I will try another Logitech WebCam to make sure "something else" works at all. Thanks again. |
Did you notice if /dev/video0 has been created? This is usually the sign that the system has correctly identified your webcam and the driver is properly installed.
